CURRENT SFPJ CAMPAIGNS

HOMESTEADERS/

HOME DEFENDERS CAMPAIGN

Predatory lending has ignited a wildfire of foreclosures across the United States.  Foreclosures don’t just hurt individuals and families, they hurt entire neighborhoods and communities, leaving homes abandoned and vulnerable to vagrancy and crime.  No other organization has fought harder to increase access to credit for low-income and minority families than ACORN, and SFPJ has vowed to support their homesteader/home defender campaign.   Click here to learn more.

SAVE ORCHARD GROVE

Orchard Grove is a vibrant mobile-home community in Boulder.  The residents of Orchard Grove are facing eviction from the owners of the land who wish to “develop the property,” including the green space that serves as an animal migration corridor.  Even though the residents raised enough funds to purchase the property at fair market value, the owners responded by saying they would demolish the park before selling it.  SFPJ is committed to helping the residents purchase the property, operate it as a non-profit, cooperative homeowners association, and to protect its open space from development.  Click here to read more.

LOCKHEED MURDER CAMPAIGN

SFPJ is committed to educate other students about the atrocities of the war profiteer Lockheed Martin and to hinder Lockheed’s recruitment of engineers on the CU campus.  The counter-recruitment campaign continues, and there is even talk about expanding it to make specific demands regarding the manufacture of weapons in Colorado.  Click here to learn more.

EMPLOYEE FREE CHOICE ACT

SFPJ is committed to helping the SEIU, Jobs with Justice, and numerous other organizations pass the Employee Free Choice Act.  The Employee Free Choice Act is critical to checking corporate irresponsibility because it makes our work places more democratic through three key provisions: 1) Making sure companies recognize unions when a majority of the workers sign union authorization cards. 2) Strengthening penalties for corporations that illegally coerce or intimidate employees, and 3) Allowing a neutral third party to settle contract disputes when no agreement has been reached for three months.  To learn how you can help, click here.
